A note on scheduling:Depending on your student's age(s), it's really important to keep in mind that homeschooling is NOT replicating the classroom environment. Kids need to move and play, which is part of the reason I'm sculpting a year of project-based learning and unit-based learning. As I've structured the sections, unit learning leads into project-based learning on similar topics. The estimations we've made on which months to tackle which topics is a broad generalization. There's a lot of information available for each of these areas. We could easily spend weeks and weeks diving deep into these topics. But again, what is being provided isn't a checklist of things to do. It's sculpted to give you the options to teach to your child's interests. No matter how much or how little you use, every little bit is a success.

Time is built in for a 15 minute recess whenever kiddo needs a break. |
The First Week - Establishing Habits
Day One
WELCOME TO SCHOOL!
This is the time to introduce your student to what school is going to look like this year. This can take much of the "Learn with 'Teach'" and "Independent Learning" time for the first day.

Talk through:
- Space (where they are working, where to hang things, where to find things)
- Materials (what are we learning, what can they use)
- Schedule (when will things happen, where can they find this)
- Expectations
- What happens if they finish a task early?
- Can they go on their devices? Should they read a book?
- What happens when 'teach' has to adjust for work, appointments, illness?
- If they have questions, but 'teach' is busy, where can they write these down?
- If you have a bulletin board, white board, or large post-it note paper, having a permanent place where they can write or post their questions will help them remember and be heard.
- What happens if they finish a task early?
Establish "School Rules" with your child.
- This should include what is acceptable for you, any other children in the home, circumstances, and expectations.
